We had high hopes for this evening

Last Saturday Stapes and I were trying to get on this buck and we were on him but he was on us before camera light. After another card pull Friday that was full of daylight pics of the droptine 9, we were more than pumped up to get in our stand tonight. This buck has given us hundreds of pics and alot of daylight pics. The last pull has shown that he isn't coming thru in the morning during shooting light anymore we decided to get on him in the evening. Just about every night he's coming thru around 7:00-7:30. Today proved no different. He showed himself about 300 yards away on the neighboring property around 5:30. He pretty much came straight to us. He jumped the fence and was 10 yards behind us by 6:15. Every deer that comes down thru here always hangs up on the other side of a little creek just staging up and checking the area out before crossing and coming out into the field. Well he was calm as could be even with the property owners dog barking his head off and I figured it was just a matter of a few minutes until I was given a good shot on our side of the creek so I was going to be patient and just wait until he crossed the creek. MISTAKE! Should've shot him behind us. There's a bar a 1/4 mile up the road and they fired up a live band that was LOUD. As soon as he heard that he trotted off and headed back to the neighbors. Unbeliveable! Well that's twice we have been in this stand and twice we had him at 10 yards! This deer is going to make it on Chasing Whitetails Season 3 hopefully on the next time in.

What a night

The day started off a little wet. But with all of the rain I was able to get out of work early and pull some card out of our Moultrie cameras. Like usual the big drop tine buck that Don has been trying to get on was in his normal routine. With high hopes for Saturday we just couldnt sit at home, so Don and I headed out. There has been a ton of deer on one of our properties and we new we had to be in there. So we came up with a game plan, we had noticed that the deer had really been using this back corner of a cut corn field. With no stand in place we headed in with Dons Double Bull Blind in hand. As soon as we peaked over the knoll in the field there was five deer already in the field. Bumbing the deer was our only option. Once we got the blind set up, camera mounted on the tripod, arrow nocked, Don and I looked at each other and said this is never going to work. Little did we know it was going to work perfectly. Around 645 a doe peaked out of the bushes and started to enter the field. She walked right into my shooting lane around 35 yards and I heard Don say I am on her. I settled the bin and squeezed the trigger on my release. The arrow hit its mark. Watching the Nockturnal Nock all the way we could tell that she was not going to go far with that kind of shot. We decided to stay to see what else came out. Around 15 min later we had two fawns and a nice 2 1/2 yr old stud was right out infront of us. Then just before dark we had 4 more deer come out into the cut corn field. After dark we recovered my doe. She had only went about 80 yards from were she was shot. We had a total of around 7-8 deer walk with in 35 yards of our blind and not a single one of them noticed the blind. This is the first time that we have been able to hunt out of a blind that we had just poped up and get away with it. All in all it was a great night. We got some great footage for our season 3 dvd and now we getting ready for tomorrow.

Looking like Season 3 might be huge.

Got a few more pics of some GOOD bucks. I wish all of our card pulls had a few like these. Season 3 is looking real good right now, all we have to do is hunt smart.

Ky Opener

Well we didn't get in the Tree for the Ky opener this past weekend because it was 100 degrees. But I have staffer Corey Staples (Stapes) flying in this Thursday (Sept 8th) to run the cam for me,the temps have dropped dramatically and I think we should see some good deer movement, been getting some shooters on the Moultrie cams. Will keep you posted.
