Droptine 9

Tommy got permission to hunt this small property over the summer and we looked at it and didn't think to much of it. We were told that there was already 3 other guys hunting the property but the landowner said they just gun hunted it. We glassed the place once and then set up one of our Moultrie trail cameras. When we were leaving after setting up the camera we saw this buck for the first time across the street getting ready to cross the road. To say we were a little excited would be an understatement but we were still a little skeptical that we would ever see that deer while hunting. After the first card pull we were shocked. After a month we had hundreds of pictures of this buck and we had nailed down his pattern. We have never encountered a buck that had this strict of a pattern and lived in such a small home range. This buck stayed pretty much in a 50 acre area and did just about the same thing everyday. We had a encounters with him each of the 4 times we hunted him but he came in before camera light the first time and the second time a bar up the street had a band playing and the band started as he was staged up 10 yards behind us and he trotted off. The next time in we couldn't get to the stand because deer were already right under the stand. I snuck into 30 yards af the stand but Droptine 9hung up on the neighbors property and never came across. Then about 2 weeks ago, he started showing up on camera about an hour before sunrise and and hour after sunset. We then had the camera we were getting all the pics on stolen. While looking into it we found out that the other guys hunting this property did bowhunt and they bowhunted a good bit. We also found out that the neighboring property had a lot of tresspassing issues. The guys that were already on this property had been hunting it for years and they had seen this buck several times. We didn't want to step on their toes since they had been on this property for years but they were more than welcoming and told us to hunt where and when we wanted and they would work with us, unheard of now a days, most would shun us and try to keep us out.
The next time in the conditions were perfect. It had been in the high 70s low 80s then a front blew in with rain and temps in the 60s. The rain stopped about an hour before dark and the deer started moving. we had 2 litlle bucks come in and while I was caught sitting down I was able to get my bow and I could hear deer behind us but Tommy wasn't saying anything so I didn't think much of it. He then tapped on the tree and I looked down to see Droptine 9 at the base of the tree. Well 30 seconds later I had my oppurtunity, he crossed the creek and turned to the left giving me a 10 yard shot. I just arrowed my best buck to date and Tommy got it all on film and it's some of the best footage I have seen. A short 80 yard track job and we had him. I'd like to thank Tommy for getting us on this property and letting me hunt hunt him. Once we saw this deer and patterned him, Tommy said after the year I had last year that he wanted me to kill this one, THANKS MAN!
