Went out this morning with Tommy and Corey. Corey was videoing for us and we had one of the best mornings of this SLOW season. We had a bird gobbling on the roost a couple hundred yards away. He never came in but we did have another bird come in. It came in on our left and we thought it was a hen because it waqs yelping it's head off. We made a few calls to it and it blew up into strut. Well this bird tested our patience and hung up out at 150 yards forever until we gave up on it and let it wonder off.
I ended up going up to our Washington county spot to give it on last shot. I had to pull my moultrie cameras and blind so why not do it today and get on last hunt in. Good thing I did, right after getting into the blind I had a hen come in and then saws another hen with a longbeard in tow. Those 2 birds where 200 yards up the ridge from me so I made a few calls and.......nothing didn't see them again until almost 2 hours later when they popped out from behind some trees about 80 yards away. The hen turned out to be a bearded hen that we have been seeing for 3 years now.She made her way down past me but the longbeard stayed 60 yards out and just strutted, spitting and drumming the whole time. I got good footage of him but he kept going behind a tree infront of the blind. Well I couldn't take it anymore so when he finally made his way into range I let him have it and tagged my second bird here in Maryland. This is the first year that I have tagged out in Maryland. That's all for turkey hunting for this year, Abnaki had a pretty good year I think that makes 11 birds down on film this year. Can't wait untill next year.
